More about this camp

The ELAC Nottingham Summer Centre delivers the ELAC Discovery Programme at Jubilee Campus, part of the University of Nottingham — a modern, landscaped campus around ten minutes from the city centre. Programme and activities. The Discovery Programme combines English lessons with skills development, creative and physical activities, evening entertainment and educational excursions, with Liverpool among the destinations listed. Being in the Midlands puts a different set of cities within reach than the provider's southern centres, which lean towards London and the south coast. Accommodation. All accommodation is on site in single en-suite rooms with access to communal areas. This is the most uniform and most private arrangement among ELAC's centres — every student has their own room and their own bathroom, with no variation by tier or luck of allocation. Families for whom room-sharing is a concern will find this the clearest option of the group; those who want their child to share for social reasons should note it works the other way. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 11 to 17. Five sessions are listed, beginning in early July. Location and travel. Jubilee Campus is in Nottingham, in the East Midlands. East Midlands Airport is nearby, with Birmingham and Manchester as larger alternatives; London is around two hours by train. Transfer arrangements are not published and should be confirmed. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit students who want their own room and bathroom without negotiating tiers or supplements, and families interested in a modern university campus rather than a historic school. The Midlands location suits those who want to see cities beyond London. Families set on the south of England or a traditional boarding-school atmosphere should compare ELAC's Horsham, Eastbourne or Ardingly centres.
