Claremont International Summer School is a residential summer programme run by Claremont School on its own East Sussex campus for students aged 11 to 17 from around the world. The core of the course is the Active English programme: morning English and skills-building sessions, followed by afternoon and evening activities. Students choose a specialist pathway — Forest School, Performing Arts, Creative Arts or Multi-Sports — and take activity options including Martial Arts, Film Making, Outdoor Cooking, Drama, Dance, Cricket, Multisports and Music. Seven excursions are included during the stay, among them London, Thorpe Park, Hastings, Canterbury and Bodiam. Students are accommodated in the school's boarding houses with a resident staff team, and meals are cooked daily on campus with dietary requirements taken into account. Families meet the Director of Summer School before the course to go through the schedule and the options.

About
About the Course
Mornings are given to the Active English programme: English sessions combined with skills-building work on confidence, communication, teamwork, public speaking and independence. Students also choose a specialist pathway for the stay — Forest School, Performing Arts, Creative Arts or Multi-Sports. English is learned in use rather than only in the classroom, through speaking, making and doing alongside students from other countries.
What’s Included
The course runs as a two-week residential stay. Shorter and longer stays can be arranged with the school; the school notes that travelling outside the published course dates carries additional costs. Airport transfers are quoted on application, depending on arrival time and group size, and are not part of the course fee. Flights and travel insurance are arranged by the family. Before the course, families meet the Director of Summer School online to go through the schedule and the pathway and activity options.
Accommodation
Students stay in the school boarding houses, close to the campus and to local amenities, looked after by an experienced resident staff team who are available to students throughout the stay. A day option is also offered, with the residential stay recommended by the school. The school does not publish its room types or sharing arrangements.
Meal Plan
Meals are cooked daily on the school campus and eaten together. Breakfast and lunch are named by the school. Dietary needs and restrictions are catered for; families are asked to tell the school about any requirement in advance.
Activities & Excursions
Afternoons and evenings are built around activity choices: Martial Arts, Film Making, Outdoor Cooking, Drama, Dance, Cricket, Multisports, Forest School and Music. Seven excursions are included over the course of the stay, taking students to London, Thorpe Park, Hastings, Canterbury and Bodiam. Each afternoon carries roughly two hours of activity, and evenings are organised by the staff team.
Facilities
The course uses Claremont School’s own campus in East Sussex, with classrooms, sports facilities and grounds used for Forest School and outdoor activities. Wi-Fi is available to students.
Camp Experience
Students come from a range of countries and live together in the school boarding houses for the length of the course, which is what gives the programme its international feel. Evenings are organised rather than free time: movie nights, quiz nights and a graduation party at the end of the stay. Students have a daily opportunity to contact home, and Wi-Fi is available. Lights out is at ten in the evening.

Morning Active English and skills-building sessions each weekday. The school does not publish a lesson count or lesson length; 20 lessons per week recorded by default (decision 11.10.2026).
Active English: students use English to solve practical, real-world challenges, mainly through film making and performing arts, building listening, speaking, problem-solving, creativity, leadership and teamwork skills. In the afternoons a chosen specialist pathway such as Forest School, Performing Arts, Creative Arts or Multi-Sports keeps them speaking English with activity-specific vocabulary.
