Voyager Package

We'll let you know when this camp adds new dates.

Chichester College runs its English Language Summer School in the historic city of Chichester, on the South Coast of England, for students aged 16 and over. Mornings are given to General English, taught by Chichester English Language School, which works across CEFR levels A2 to C2; afternoons bring English options, sports, arts and social activities, with Wednesday half-day and Saturday full-day excursions. Students stay with a host family or in the college's own halls of residence: Woodlands Hall takes 16 and 17 year olds on full board, and Westgate Halls take students of 18 and over on self-catering or full board. Three packages differ in what is included - Voyager pays separately for trips and accommodation choices, Explorer includes accommodation and every excursion, and Adventurer adds an adventure activity every weekday afternoon. All students take the Oxford online placement test before they arrive.

About

About the Course

Teaching is in the hands of Chichester English Language School, which is ranked joint highest among public-sector language schools in the UK by EL Gazette, on the strength of its most recent British Council inspection. Summer courses run at CEFR levels A1 to C2, with places at A1 and C2 depending on demand. Mornings are General English - fifteen hours a week. Four afternoons a week add English options, and students choose their own track: communication, exam skills or IELTS readiness. Every student sits the Oxford online placement test before arrival, so classes are set by level rather than by age or nationality. The shortest stay the school sells is two weeks.

What’s Included

Three packages share the same classrooms and differ in what else is in the price. Voyager is the flexible one: tuition, a choice of accommodation paid for separately, free social activities on campus, and optional Wednesday and Saturday trips bought one by one. Explorer is all-inclusive: accommodation, every excursion and the full social programme are covered. Adventurer keeps the morning English and fills each weekday afternoon with an activity, with a Saturday full-day trip and the evening programme included.

Accommodation

Students choose between a local host family and the college's own halls of residence on the Chichester campus. Woodlands Hall takes students aged 16 and 17: up to ninety residents in single and twin study bedrooms with en-suite or shared bathrooms, two social spaces, pool tables, table tennis, games consoles, darts, free unlimited Wi-Fi and two laundry rooms, staffed around the clock by trained supervisors. Westgate Halls take students of 18 and over, who choose self-catering or full board. Homestay students get their own bedroom with Wi-Fi, share the family's facilities and have laundry done once a week.

Meal Plan

Full board at Woodlands Hall means credit on the student card for breakfast and lunch at the college, with the evening meal served to international students in the college cafeteria. Half-board homestay means the host provides breakfast and an evening meal on weekdays, and breakfast, lunch and dinner at the weekend. Homestay students can instead choose self-catering and cook for themselves, and students of 18 and over in Westgate Halls make the same choice.

Activities & Excursions

Afternoons and evenings are a programme rather than free time. The social programme runs sports, arts and cultural evenings on campus at no extra cost. Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays are for trips - London on foot, Windsor, Oxford with punting on the river, and the attractions of the South Coast. Adventurer afternoons are built around activity: indoor climbing, Go Ape, laser tag, go-karting, kayaking, aqua sports and paintball.

Facilities

The summer school uses the Chichester College campus in Westgate Fields, a short walk from the centre of the cathedral city and within easy reach of the South Coast. On campus students have classrooms, the college cafeteria, residence accommodation, laundry rooms, social spaces with games, and free unlimited Wi-Fi. The college is one of four in the Chichester College Group, alongside Worthing, Brighton MET and Northbrook.

Camp Experience

Chichester is a small, walkable cathedral city on the South Coast of England, and the summer school is deliberately built around that scale: students come from around the world, study in mixed-level classes, and spend afternoons and weekends seeing England rather than sitting on campus. The college describes the aim as helping students become genuinely global citizens while learning English in a supportive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The summer school is open to students aged sixteen and over. Students aged sixteen and seventeen stay in Woodlands Hall, the on-campus residence staffed around the clock by trained supervisors; students of eighteen and over stay in Westgate Halls.

Fifteen hours of General English every week in the mornings. On the Voyager and Explorer packages four afternoons a week add six hours of English options, chosen from communication, exam skills or IELTS readiness, so those packages come to twenty-one hours a week. The Adventurer package keeps the fifteen morning hours and gives the afternoons to activities.

Every student completes the Oxford online placement test before arrival. The school sends a link to the test once it has the application, and classes are grouped by level. Chichester English Language School teaches across CEFR levels A2 to C2.

Either a vetted local host family or the college halls on the Chichester campus. Homestay students have their own bedroom with Wi-Fi and choose half board or self-catering, with laundry once a week. Woodlands Hall has single and twin study bedrooms with en-suite or shared bathrooms and full board. Westgate Halls, for students of eighteen and over, offer self-catering or full board.

On the Explorer and Adventurer packages every Wednesday afternoon trip and Saturday full-day excursion is included. On the Voyager package campus social activities are free and excursions are booked and paid for individually - the school publishes a starting price per activity, and the price is listed in this card under extras.

On the Chichester College campus in Westgate Fields, Chichester, West Sussex, a short walk from the centre of the cathedral city and within easy reach of the South Coast of England. The international team of Chichester College Group is based on the same campus.

Two weeks. Students book from two weeks upwards, and the summer school season runs for eight weeks in total, so longer stays are built from consecutive weeks.
