Camp Cornwall: Ofsted-Registered Residential Camp on the Cornish Coast

Camp Cornwall is not an academic course but an outdoor adventure camp. The approach focuses on outdoor learning, developing self‑esteem, mental health and wellbeing, inclusive learning, and peer relationships. The camp sees risk and reward as central, encouraging children to venture outside their comfort zone while being supported and kept safe. Children are allocated into groups by gender and age, with a designated Camp Leader for each group. There are no traditional lessons, grammar, or speaking levels. The emphasis is on trust, confidence, resilience, and personal growth through activities.

The Overnight Package (2‑Night or 5‑Night) includes all activities, meals, excursions, and accommodation. Day Camp (8:30am‑4:00pm) includes a morning snack and lunch. Optional extras include chaperone minibus service for 5‑Night Camps (arrival Sunday, departure Friday, subject to availability). Pocket money for treats is not included but recommended.

Accommodation is in large 30m² bunkhouse tents sleeping up to 8 people. Beds are raised off the ground (bunk‑style) with hygienic PVC covered mattresses, fitted sheets, duvets, and pillows. Each tent includes a camping sofa, bean bags, coffee table, rug, bunting, picnic bench, and clothes storage. Separate toilet and shower facilities are provided for boys, girls, male staff, female staff, plus accessible and gender‑neutral options. The camp has experience handling concerns about sleeping accommodation.

Overnight stays include a cooked breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. Day Camp includes morning snack and lunch. Optional Breakfast Club and After Club are available at extra cost. All meals are freshly prepared on‑site. The camp works with parents to manage allergies and dietary requirements; the site is nut‑free.

The programme includes water, beach, and land‑based activities such as kayaking, SUPing, coasteering, high ropes, and Mega SUPs. Evening activities focus on bonding and togetherness, including performances at The Stage and a silent disco at The Hub. There is an awards ceremony that celebrates quirky achievements and personal effort. Timetables include downtime and rest breaks. Walks to nearby Charlestown are also available. The camp aims to keep campers entertained from dawn to dusk.

On‑site facilities include The Hub (dining and entertainment space), The Stage (welcome meetings and evening performances), private toilet and shower blocks (separate by gender plus accessible), and a tuck shop. The camp is screen‑free; no WiFi is mentioned for campers. Off‑site: Porthpean Beach is a 10‑minute walk away, used for kayaking, SUPing, and coasteering.

The centre has over 20 years of experience and is Ofsted‑registered. All frontline staff are DBS‑checked and undergo rigorous screening and induction. The senior management team has over 15 years of experience working with schools and children. Staff are trained to pay attention to detail to ensure children feel safe, respected, and happy. The camp’s mission is to offer a complete outdoor activity experience in a caring environment, creating memories of adventure, friendships, and pride.
