Bergheim, Obertauern

Guided skiing and snowboarding in Obertauern: more than 100 kilometres of piste, very modern lifts and gondolas with panoramic views, all compactly laid out so there are no long transfers. The best-known feature is the Tauernrunde, a circuit that loops the whole area in one go, with plenty of huts along the way to stop at. Wide, open pistes make the area work for newcomers as well; compulsory three-day beginner courses and two-day advanced courses are offered for both ski and snowboard.

The school offers a special discount — ask us for details. The trip price covers travel there and back, accommodation, half board plus, ruf snowguides with piste guiding, the lift pass, the holiday programme and guided ski and snowboard tours. Ski and snowboard courses are booked separately.

The Haus Bergheim is a bright, informal house with a ski room and free WiFi. It takes less than five minutes to reach the piste, about five to the lift and one to the ski bus. Rooms are twin or multi-bed, each with its own shower and a separate WC. The house has its own bar.

Half board plus. Breakfast is a buffet, and guests pack a lunch box for the day in the snow. In the evening there is a three-course menu with fresh salads, and drinks with meals are included. Vegetarian meals and allergy or intolerance requirements are arranged in advance through the operator’s own booking area.

The ruf snowguides plan a different activity every day: relaxed evenings in the house, games, music, outings together and floodlit skiing on the piste. The guides also show guests the best spots in the resort, all within easy reach of the house.

A short winter break for guests aged 16 and over who want a compact ski area, a house close to the piste and an evening programme that does not require going far. Guests travelling alone find company quickly: the ruf team runs the programme for the whole house.
