WashU High School Summer Institutes are two-week residential programmes on the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors choose one noncredit institute and pursue it in depth with university instructors in classes of roughly fifteen to twenty participants. Institutes are offered in advanced research inquiry, ancient studies, creative work, environmental studies and research development, with two-week blocks running in June and in July. Participants live in air-conditioned campus residence halls, eat on campus and join enrichment programming built around college-readiness skills, together with faculty presentations, tours of university research centres and visits to institutions across St. Louis. The programme fee covers tuition, housing, meals and all programme activities.

关于
课程介绍
Each institute is a single noncredit subject studied intensively for two weeks with instructors from the university's Arts & Sciences division. Classes are small, typically fifteen to twenty participants, so feedback is personal and discussion-led. Because the institutes are noncredit, there are no letter grades; participants are assessed on attendance, participation and the work they produce, which keeps the focus on curiosity rather than transcripts. Offerings rotate, and the current cycle covers advanced research inquiry, ancient studies, creative work, environmental studies and research development.
包含内容
The programme fee covers tuition for the chosen institute, on-campus housing, meals and all programme activities, so families budget one figure rather than several. Travel to and from St. Louis, textbooks, course supplies and personal spending are not included. A non-refundable application fee applies when the application is submitted. Need-based scholarship assistance is offered, and returning participants as well as children of eligible university employees receive a ten per cent discount.
住宿
Participants live on campus in one of the university's air-conditioned residence halls for the full two weeks, supervised by programme staff. Room type is not published by the provider, so the exact configuration is confirmed with the programme office before arrival. Living in the halls is part of the point: participants share dining, study space and evening programming with the rest of their cohort.
餐食方案
Meals are included in the programme fee and taken in campus dining facilities. The provider does not publish a detailed menu or a list of catered dietary options, so specific dietary requirements are best raised directly with the programme office in advance.
活动与 экскурсии
Beyond the classroom, the institutes run enrichment programming designed around college-readiness skills, plus academic extras tied to the subject: faculty presentations, tours of university research centres and institutes, and site visits to organisations in St. Louis engaged in the field being studied. Evening and weekend programming is organised by residential staff.
设施
The programmes use the Danforth Campus in St. Louis: teaching rooms in the Arts & Sciences buildings, campus dining facilities, and the residence halls where participants live. Access to research centres and institutes on campus is part of several institutes through organised visits.
营地体验
The institutes suit a student who wants to test what university-level study of one subject actually feels like, without the pressure of a grade. Two weeks is long enough to go deep and to live independently on a campus, but short enough to fit alongside other summer plans. Cohorts are small and mixed, drawing participants from across the United States and other countries, and the residential element means the academic work is shared with the same group at dinner and in the evenings.
