Timber Lake West

Timber Lake West is a traditional co-ed overnight camp in Roscoe, New York, part of the TLC family of camps. It sits on a mountaintop in the Catskills on 380 secluded acres with its own private spring-fed lake, just over two hours north-west of New York City and three hours from Philadelphia. The camp runs short sessions rather than a full season: each session has a beginning, a middle and an end, with athletic programming, inter-camp tournaments, waterfront activities, a robust elective programme, a Visiting Day, a colour war and closing activities. The stated mission is to teach children the skills of making and keeping friends while building self-esteem, self-confidence and resilience, supported by the camp's STARFISH values programme. Each group has a Head Counselor and a Friendship Coach who liaise with parents, and the camp works to a one-to-two staff-to-camper ratio. Timber Lake West is accredited by the American Camp Association.
