Oksnøen Leir

Oksnøen Leir is a Norwegian camp operator based on an island in Lake Vansjø at Råde in Østfold, some eighty kilometres south of Oslo. It runs residential summer camps for children and teenagers aged eight to sixteen, alongside school camps for visiting classes and events for groups. Participants sleep in cabins with four- to six-bed rooms or in larger stand-alone cabins, with shared showers and toilets, and rooms are allocated by age and gender. Three meals a day are served, and allergies and dietary preferences are catered for. The programme is built around the lake and the surrounding forest: sailing in small dinghies, canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding, water-skiing and wakeboarding, tubing, motorboat driving after an instructor-led course, fishing, horse riding on the camp's own horses, archery, climbing, a zip line, cliff jumping and football. The island also keeps rabbits, lambs and other animals the children can help look after.
