En savoir plus sur ce camp

The BYMT Shropshire Summer Camp runs from 20 to 25 August 2026 at Oswestry School in Shropshire. Over six days, a company of young people aged 11–17 creates a brand-new musical from scratch — in 2026, “Itchybald Scratchet and the Buried Treasure”, a magical new musical by composer Ruth Chan and writer and lyricist Vanessa Oakes based on Sue Medcalf’s popular books, exploring the environmental conflict between humans and animals in a playful, imaginative way. The camp provides creative training in acting, singing, movement, improvisation, lyric writing and instrumental playing, delivered by experienced professional theatre-makers. The week culminates in a showcase performance for family and friends, attended by Mountview Exams examiners: every participant receives a Grade 6 Certificate in Musical Theatre in Production, and the experience can contribute to Arts Award or Duke of Edinburgh Award portfolios. No audition is needed — places are first come, first served. Participants board on site at Oswestry School with full board and 24-hour pastoral care. As a not-for-profit organisation heavily subsidised by Arts Council England, BYMT keeps fees accessible: the residential fee is £780 for domestic (British/Irish taxpayer) students and £880 for overseas students, including two tickets to the final showcase, with deposit and instalment payment plans available. Availability, dates and prices may change quickly, so please always confirm details directly with the camp provider before making travel arrangements.
