The Royal Borough of Greenwich is one of London's most historic and student-friendly areas, combining a life-changing cultural experience with world-class English learning. The University of Greenwich Cutty Sark Programme is designed for students aged 11 to 17 who wish to improve their English language skills while experiencing the fullness of London life. The programme combines 15 hours of English lessons per week with a full schedule of activities and excursions, including a city cruise along the River Thames and visits to Cambridge and Brighton. The main goal is to bring English to life through engaging lessons, cultural immersion, and exciting explorations of London's iconic landmarks, all while living on the modern and comfortable university campus.

The programme offers 15 hours of English lessons per week, delivered in classes with a maximum size of 20 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Teaching follows a communicative and interactive methodology that focuses on collaboration through creative projects and review sessions, using English in real-world contexts. Lessons build all core language skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – with a strong emphasis on communication, fluency, and confidence. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from Elementary to Proficiency, and the programme can be adjusted to accommodate lower levels if needed.

The curriculum is designed in-house and uses engaging, modern topics that students can relate to. The programme's collaboration with National Geographic Learning ensures access to high-quality, engaging course materials that bring the world into the classroom. Each lesson provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning process and develop critical thinking skills while using English. Additional academic choices include the Trinity GESE exam, as well as customised curriculums such as Employability for the 21st Century (available for students aged 14+ with minimum English level B1) and Academic Skills for Higher Education (available for students with minimum English level B1, minimum of 12 students).

The programme is all-inclusive and covers English language teaching (15 hours per week), course materials, registration fees, a graduation certificate, accommodation in university residences with single ensuite rooms, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), local transportation including travel on scheduled visits, and all activities and excursions as per the programme. Please note that there may be slight differences in what is included depending on the specific programme and length of stay. For a supplementary cost of £140 per student, the Trinity GESE exam is available subject to demand and minimum student numbers. Students stay in Cutty Sark Hall, located right next to Cutty Sark DLR Station, providing excellent transport links to central London. Rooms are single occupancy with ensuite bathrooms, offering students privacy and comfort. The accommodation is less than a 5-minute walk from Greenwich town centre and all the facilities this historic area has to offer, including shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. A dedicated 24-hour reception area ensures student safety and support at all times.
