Home to one of the oldest universities in the world, Oxford is a bustling and cosmopolitan city steeped in history and culture. Aside from the beautiful buildings of Oxford University, there are many other sights worth visiting, including the Radcliffe Camera, the Ashmolean Museum, and the Bodleian Library. Our school is located in central Oxford, just a 1-minute walk from the city centre, placing students at the heart of this historic and academic city where every building is a museum to learning, culture, and study. The Oxford International Oxford Summer Programme is designed for students aged 12 to 17 who wish to improve their English language skills while experiencing British culture surrounded by history and academia. The programme combines 15 hours of English lessons per week with a full schedule of activities and excursions, including full-day trips to London, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath. The main goal is to bring English to life through engaging lessons, cultural immersion, and exciting explorations of Oxford's historic sites and beyond, all while living with carefully selected local host families.

The programme offers 15 hours of English lessons per week, delivered in classes with an average size of 15 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Lessons build all core language skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – with a strong emphasis on communication, fluency, and confidence. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from Elementary to Proficiency, and the programme can be adjusted to accommodate lower levels if needed.

The curriculum is designed in-house and uses engaging, modern topics that students can relate to. The programme's collaboration with National Geographic Learning ensures access to high-quality, engaging course materials that bring the world into the classroom. Each lesson provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning process and develop critical thinking skills while using English. Additional academic choices include the Trinity GESE exam, as well as customised curriculums such as Employability for the 21st Century (available for students aged 14+ with minimum English level B1, minimum 12 students) and Academic Skills for Higher Education (available for students with minimum English level B1, minimum 12 students).

The programme is all-inclusive and covers English language teaching (15 hours per week), course materials, registration fees, a graduation certificate, homestay accommodation, all meals (breakfast and dinner at homestay, with hot lunch provided on lesson days and meal cards on excursion days), return airport transfers, and all activities and excursions as per the programme. Please note that there may be slight differences in what is included depending on the specific programme and length of stay. For a supplementary cost of £140 per student, the Trinity GESE exam is available subject to demand and minimum student numbers. Unterkunft

Students stay with local host families selected according to British Council Guidelines, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. All students stay in twin or triple rooms, providing the opportunity to share their experience with a peer from a different country. Families are located within a 45-minute journey from the school by public transport, allowing students to experience authentic British daily life while conveniently accessing the school and Oxford city centre. Bed linen and towels are provided, and laundry is available for stays longer than one week. Staying with a host family offers students a unique and authentic experience of British culture, allowing them to practise their English in a natural setting.

Verpflegung

Full board is provided, with breakfast and dinner served by the host family every day. A hot lunch is provided on lesson days, and meal cards are provided on excursion days. The first meal is dinner on the day of arrival, and the last meal is a packed lunch on the day of departure. Special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or other preferences, can be accommodated upon request, subject to prior notification during the booking process.

A full and varied activity programme is included, designed to make the most of the school's central location in Oxford and its proximity to other historic UK destinations. Students participate in on-site activities and excursions to explore the city's most popular attractions. Excursions in Oxford include orientation tours, entrance to Oxford University colleges, treasure hunts, visits to Oxford museums and galleries, the Weston Library, the Oxford Oratory, Oxford Castle, sports in the park, orienteering activities, and bowling. Evening social events such as disco nights provide opportunities for students to mix and make new friends. Full-day excursions to London include Politics & Royalty walking tours and visits to the British Museum. Full-day excursions to Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle with entrance to the castle are also offered. With a broad international mix, students will improve their language skills not only in lessons but by making friends during trips and by living with a host family.
