Zigotours Thailand and Cambodia Camp: Bangkok, Angkor and Koh Chang

The stay runs in three stages. Bangkok comes first: the Rambuttri quarter explored on foot, the Royal Palace, Wat Pho and its reclining Buddha, a ride in a long-tail motorboat, the panorama from the Golden Temple, shopping in the local markets and a traditional massage. Then Siem Reap in Cambodia, the town known for the temples of Angkor, which the group visits; there is a cooking class to learn amok, the national dish, and an evening at the Phare circus, whose shows fund a social enterprise. The last stage is Koh Chang, where a jungle hike leads to a waterfall to swim in, a boat trip goes out along the coast, and snorkelling gear takes the group over the coral reefs and their tropical fish. The stay closes with a music and dance evening.

The price published by the operator covers accommodation, meals, the activities and excursions of the published programme, and insurance. Zigo Tours takes out cover for every participant - assistance and repatriation, individual accident, third-party liability, legal costs and baggage - and advances medical expenses during the stay. Travel is by scheduled flight with a stopover, out of Paris to Bangkok and back. Pre-travel from regional cities can be arranged by the operator's transport department; it is quoted case by case and is not part of the published price.

The group sleeps in simple hotels of the kind known locally as guest houses, in rooms of two to four beds. Showers and toilets are shared and sit on the landing.

Meals are taken in small local restaurants. One of them the group cooks itself, at the cooking class in Siem Reap.

Walking Bangkok and its temples, a long-tail boat ride, a traditional massage and the local markets; the temples of Angkor, a cooking class and the Phare circus in Cambodia; then a jungle hike to a waterfall, a boat trip, snorkelling over the coral reefs of Koh Chang and a music and dance evening.

Accommodation is in guest houses with rooms of two to four beds and shared shower and toilet blocks on the landing. Travel on the ground is by local and private transport meeting the safety standards of the country.

A group of twelve to twenty-four participants, accompanied by an experienced Zigo leader. The route covers two countries and three very different settings - a capital city, an archaeological site and an island - so the pace changes as the stay goes on.
