Aventure Suomi — Winter Nature Camp in Finland for Teenagers

The programme is a guided winter discovery of Finland rather than a course: there are no classroom lessons. It combines two very different settings — the Finnish capital and the countryside — so that participants see both the urban and the wild side of the country. In Helsinki the group explores the city centre through a city game and travels out to the Suomenlinna sea fortress. The group then moves on to a multi-activity youth centre deep in preserved nature, roughly five hours from the capital, where the days are built around Nordic outdoor activities. Everything is run in French by a director and qualified group leaders.

Two types of accommodation follow the two halves of the trip. At the youth centre the group stays in a chalet on the centre's grounds, surrounded by forest and frozen lakes. In Helsinki the group stays in a youth hostel. The operator does not publish a room layout beyond this; the accommodation type recorded here reflects the chalet stay, which is the longer of the two.

Full board is provided at the youth centre. In Helsinki catering works differently: meals are self-catered by the group, with a small restaurant used as well. The operator publishes no separate meal supplement for the programme.

The activity programme is Nordic and outdoor. At the youth centre participants try cross-country skiing, curling, snowshoe walks through the snowy landscape and sledging, and take an introduction to cold-weather survival techniques — making a fire and building an igloo. The centre's own swimming pool, ice rink and sports facilities are also part of the stay, and the experience ends with a traditional sauna beside the frozen lake. In the capital the activities are a city game in the centre of Helsinki and an excursion to the Suomenlinna sea fortress.

This is a small residential group: the operator runs the programme with a minimum of twelve and a maximum of twenty-four participants, and one adult for every eight young people. The group is accompanied by a director and qualified group leaders for the whole trip, from the flight out of Paris to the return. The programme is aimed at teenagers and is conducted in French, so participants share the experience with French-speaking peers from across the country.
