About

About the Course

English lessons run for two lessons a day, in the morning or in the afternoon, giving 3 hours 20 minutes of tuition daily and a minimum of fifteen hours of English a week. Students are placed by level on arrival, from elementary through to advanced, and taught in international classes. Course materials are provided and every student receives an end-of-course report. Alongside the language lessons students choose an elective strand — Film Making or Photography — and take part in personal development and career guidance sessions and conversation clubs.

What’s Included

The programme is residential and full-board. The fee covers English tuition and course materials, accommodation on the university campus, all meals, the activity and evening programme, excursions and supervision by ATC staff. Group bookings are organised separately by the operator and include a free place for a group leader with every fifteen paying students.

Accommodation

Students live on the UCD Belfield campus in single en-suite bedrooms within shared student apartments, on a full-board basis. ATC staff are resident on campus and provide supervision around the clock. The campus is a self-contained site 4 km from the centre of Dublin with its own bus terminal.

Meal Plan

Full board. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday to Friday in a dedicated ATC restaurant on campus. On full-day weekend trips students are given a packed lunch instead of lunch at the restaurant. No credit is given for meals that are not taken.

Activities & Excursions

The activity programme runs alongside the lessons and continues every evening of the week. It mixes sport on the campus courts and halls — basketball, volleyball, indoor football — with an evening programme that includes karaoke, quiz nights, an Irish night, discos and talent and fashion events. Excursions take students into Dublin and to sights outside the city, and the Film Making and Photography electives run as part of the week.

Facilities

The programme uses the Belfield campus of University College Dublin: classrooms, a dedicated ATC restaurant, student residences and the university sports facilities, including two indoor sports halls used for volleyball, basketball and indoor football. The campus has its own bus terminal with direct services to the city centre, 4 km away.

Camp Experience

Dublin gives students an English-speaking city to practise in, and the programme is based on a university campus rather than in a school building. Classes are international, so English is the working language between students as well as in the classroom. Beyond the lessons the programme adds personal development and career guidance workshops and conversation clubs, and the evening and weekend programme is built so that students who arrive on their own settle into a group quickly.
