About

About the Course

Inside Out is an immersive one-week residential camp for teenagers aged twelve to fifteen. Every day is a little different from the one before: team leaders keep the day flowing with planned activities carefully scheduled to balance physical, mental and creative challenges. Morning yoga against the backdrop of the Dublin Mountains starts the day, and at several points in the week the teams come together for an 'inspiration hour' with an invited guest or an interactive workshop focused on key life skills.

What’s Included

The week is residential: campers stay on site at St. Columba's College for the full programme. Registration is at half past nine on the first day, and an adult must drop the camper off. Accommodation, all meals and the activity programme are part of the camp. Campers are supplied with two t-shirts and a hoodie to wear during the week. A non-refundable deposit is paid at the time of booking, with the balance due four weeks before the camp; the operator can facilitate a name change.

Accommodation

Accommodation is dormitory style, fully supervised and provided on the campus of St. Columba's College, with separate quarters for girls and boys. All bedding and toiletries are provided.

Meal Plan

Three meals are catered each day plus an evening snack: a breakfast, a hot lunch and dinner, prepared on site. Serving times are published by the operator and may shift depending on the day's activities. A small tuck shop operates on site, so campers may bring pocket money or their own snacks. The camp runs a no-nut policy. Parents are asked during the pre-camp chat about food intolerances and allergies, and campers with allergies provide an Emergency Action Plan.

Activities & Excursions

The programme mixes outdoor adventure, sport and creative work. Free Range Outdoor Education runs bushcraft sessions covering fire, shelter, water and food in the Dublin Mountains. Headshot photographer John Murray works with campers on self-awareness and how they see themselves. Morning yoga, hiking, sports on the college grounds and use of the outdoor pool, weather permitting, run through the week, alongside workshops and inspiration hours with invited guests. Campers also have allocated time to rest on their own or with friends.

Facilities

The camp takes place on the grounds of St. Columba's College at the foothills of the Dublin Mountains, with extensive indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, forestry, fields and streams, an outdoor pool and on-site catering and dormitories.

Camp Experience

The camp was created to give teenagers new experiences, help them grow as individuals and make friends for life. In an unplugged, tech-free and stress-free camp culture, campers build face-to-face communication and relationship skills, learn to work together and accept each other's differences. The residential element is treated as a central part of the experience. All coaches are fully Garda vetted, as required for adults working with children in Ireland, and vetting is renewed regularly.
