About the Course

The programme offers 15 full hours of tuition per week, delivered Monday to Friday from 9:15 am to 12:30 pm with a 15-minute break. Classes are international with a maximum of 15 students per class and an average of 13 students. The specially designed Junior Syllabus uses a carefully planned course book and focuses on developing core language skills with particular emphasis on speaking and listening. Entry levels range from A2 to C1 on the CEFR scale, catering from pre-intermediate to advanced learners.

The programme includes weekly Intercultural Irish Teenage Programme lessons, where Irish teenage students join classes to lead exercises alongside the teacher, giving students the opportunity to connect with their Irish peers. Students are tested before arrival and on their first day, with progress monitored through weekly tests. All teachers hold a Bachelor's Degree and a further Teaching English Qualification and are recognised as qualified English Language Teachers under ACELS. Students receive a Certificate of Attendance and Attainment and an individual teacher's report at the end of their course.

What’s Included

The programme is all-inclusive with no extra charges for assessment, registration, or administration. Fees include 15 hours of tuition per week, use of a textbook, residential accommodation in the Abbey, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening snack), a full programme of activities and excursions, all transport by private coach, entrance fees to attractions, a welcome pack including a refillable water bottle, laundry service once per week, and a Certificate of Attendance and Attainment with an individual teacher's report. A deposit of €200 is required on booking, with the remainder due 4 weeks before arrival. Airport transfers are available on Sundays between 8 am and 8 pm; transfers outside these times may be available on request.

Accommodation

Students stay in residential accommodation within the historic Abbey building. Rooms generally accommodate 2 to 8 students, with toilets and showers located adjacent to the rooms. Students of the same age and gender are housed together, with nationalities mixed to encourage international friendships. Boys and girls are in different areas of the residence. House masters sleep in rooms next to each student area and are on call, with a night supervisor always awake throughout the night to ensure student safety and wellbeing.

Meal Plan

Full board is provided with hot meal options available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus an evening snack. The food is one of the highlights of students' stays, with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and a great variety on offer. Students receive a refillable eco water bottle on arrival which they can refill throughout the day at one of the many school water stations. The catering staff can cater for special dietary requirements on request, with prior notification.

Activities & Excursions

Students have a full schedule of activities and tours, with off-campus trips 2-3 afternoons per week including adventure activities. On campus, sporting and outdoor activities are organised, along with an evening skills programme for acquiring new skills and other team building and fun activities. Students have one full-day tour each weekend, following the Wild Atlantic Way to see highlights of the amazing coastline, with sample tours including the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, Galway City, and Dublin City Centre. Sundays offer students the opportunity to relax and take part in fun activities on campus. All transport for activities is by private coach.

The Abbey is situated on a stunning 500-acre estate with streams, lakes, and woodland paths, offering extensive outdoor spaces for recreation and exploration. The campus features sports fields and outdoor activity areas. The residential accommodation is within the historic Abbey building, with common areas for students to socialise. Free WiFi is available at the school. Students have access to water refilling stations throughout the campus. The historic castle setting provides a unique and inspiring environment for learning and personal growth.
