More about this camp

This Embassy Summer centre is based on the campus of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, in the United States, near Boston. It accepts students aged 13 to 18. Programme and activities. The course listed is a General Language Course. The appeal is the setting: a well-regarded New England university campus, offering what the provider describes as a true collegiate living experience. For a student weighing US higher education, time on a real American campus is a concrete part of the value. Accommodation. Students reside in secure, on-campus university residence halls at Tufts. Living and studying on the same campus removes any daily commute. As with any university setting, families should ask what supervision applies outside teaching hours, and — given the 13 to 18 range — how the youngest and oldest students are separated. Ages, dates and duration. The centre accepts students aged 13 to 18. The lower limit of 13 is higher than several Embassy centres, which suits the independence a transatlantic trip requires; the upper limit reaches past school-leaving age. One session is currently listed, beginning in late June; the full calendar should be confirmed. Location and travel. Medford is just north of Boston, Massachusetts. Boston Logan International Airport is the arrival point, well connected from Europe. Families travelling from outside the US should check visa requirements well in advance, as these are not covered here, and confirm how the transfer from the airport is handled. Who the programme may suit. This centre may suit older teenagers interested in US universities and families who want a genuine American campus experience alongside English. Boston's academic concentration adds to the appeal for a student thinking about higher education. It may suit less well younger children, or families wanting a shorter or cheaper trip, given the transatlantic travel. A direct conversation about visas, supervision and dates should come before booking.
