Embassy Summer Cape Town: Teen English Camp in South Africa

The language programme focuses on practical communication skills in a fun and engaging environment. Students receive 20 lessons per week (45 minutes each), delivered by qualified, year-round teachers trained in the Embassy Summer methodology. Classes are small, with an average of 17 students, ensuring personalised attention. A placement test on arrival ensures students are grouped according to their level, age, and nationality for optimal learning. The curriculum emphasizes speaking and listening to build confidence and fluency.

The base package includes 20 English lessons per week, full-board accommodation at the Stay Easy Hotel (twin rooms with en-suite), a comprehensive activity and excursion programme (mix of half-day and full-day trips), airport transfers on standard arrival/departure days, student induction, and course materials with an end-of-course certificate. Optional excursions, such as a Big 5 Safari, are available at an additional cost. A €40 damage deposit (refundable) is payable in cash upon arrival. Medical/travel insurance is not included but can be purchased separately.

Students stay in a modern, centrally located 4-star hotel (Stay Easy Hotel, City Bowl) within a 7-minute walk from the school. Accommodation is in secure, comfortable twin en-suite rooms, each equipped with a desk, chair, wardrobe, safe, and Wi-Fi. The hotel features 24-hour reception, CCTV, and a Night Supervisor for overnight welfare. Communal social spaces and a dining room are available. Bedrooms are cleaned every other day, and bed linens/towels are provided.

Full board accommodation is provided. All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are served buffet-style in the hotel dining room at set times, offering a variety of hot and cold options, including a vegetarian choice. On full-day excursions, packed lunches are provided. Special dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for if communicated in advance.

The programme offers a vibrant mix of cultural, social, and recreational activities designed for fun, cultural immersion, and community building. It includes must-see half-day and full-day excursions (e.g., Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, V&A Waterfront, whale watching in Hermanus) and on-site/evening activities like quizzes, film nights, roller skating, and karaoke. This balance ensures students practice English in real-life contexts while exploring Cape Town and bonding with peers.

The school features spacious, well-equipped classrooms and common social areas with free Wi-Fi. As the programme is city-based, there are no on-campus sports facilities; sporting activities are pre-booked at local venues. The prime city-centre location means students have easy access to shops, cafes, and all major urban attractions. Private transport is used for organised excursions.
